We are looking for a passionate developer who enjoys solving difficult problems and writing solid, high performing code. A customer-focused professional with a desire to create compelling user interfaces which complement the sophistication and quality of our brands and make every customer feel like a VIP.
What you will be working on:
-Design, develop release projects that improve the user experience of the brands website other digital channels
-Convert visual layouts into working prototypes
-Design and implement reliable client and web-based applications
-Evangelise front-end development standards to other areas of the ecommerce team
-Collaborate with business stakeholders and various technology teams to build better solutions for the business
-Mentor junior members of the team about best-practices in client-side development, leading by example
-Be at the cutting edge of web-development and make recommendations about adoption of new techniques or technologies
It’s crucial that you are able to do the following:
-Fluency in coding valid, clean, semantic HTML(5), CSS(3) and JavaScript
-Experience in coding JavaScript frameworks, in particular jQuery)
– Working knowledge of manipulating the DOM using AJAX to create dynamic web interfaces
-Thorough understanding of web standards and authoring responsive and accessible interfaces to maximise compatibility across different devices, platforms and browsers
-Knowledge of techniques including programming patterns, progressive enhancement and forgiving failure
– Optimising web pages for search engines, for performance and for ease of use
– Management of file repository using subversion, GIT or other CVS system
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Strong analytical, problem-solving and time-estimating skills with an interest in optimising on-going processes
Really great if you have:
-Server-side coding knowledge, in particular, Java and/or PHP and MySQL
-Experience of developing themes for WordPress
-Experience of publishing video and animation on the web and for different devices
-Experience of Flash and authoring ActionScript
-Experience with Agile methodologies and working with stakeholders at all levels
-Developing for different mobile platforms
-Proficiency with third-party API’s, in particular social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr
– Moderate understanding of UX principles
